The York Times Magazine Voyages Assignment

Six Photographers worked assignments around the world.
Animal Cafes in and not too far from Seoul South Korea
I was asked to pitch an animal themed assignment where tourist could go. All but one of the 12 cafes I photographed, were started by people who kept pets in their homes. It seemed most of the cafes also held many rescued animals.
The cat and dog cafes were also daycare centers. People just would not pick up their pets and the cafes had many, many rescued animals.
I LOVED watching people who were locals, who regularly visit with their children and many were couple on dates. I was less interested in out of country tourists. I was in awe of how calm and patient people were who visited. I loved this experience and aim to go back. Here is the published photographs and some outtakes. More to come.
