This assignment was a collaboration and trust given to me between editors Tara Johnson and Kim Bubello and most of all the wonderful Travis, Siggy and Stacy who worked with me as a team.

I am indepted to all of them for this meaningful assignment

  • In late afternoon the backyard is shaded. Here Siggy is alerted to a bug that Travis points out. This is play and communication between them.
  • Travis and Siggy are affectionate in play and give each other joy. Stacy leaves for work very early five days a week. Siggy is Travis’s only companion. Play and enrichment with play facilities as a tunnel to play in, an elaborate cat scratching post with a peek a boo perch pointing out what is out the window, and movement in the backyard. Stacy made wind chimes that reflect the light and hung them in the trees in the front and backyards, as well as other decorated objects, so Siggy and Travis can watch them reflect and move in the light.

  • Travis is not present when Stacy handles, and in this case bathes Siggy in the kitchen sink. Siggy, ever on the alert for what is going on outside. Siggy enjoys a leisurely, spa like, bath time, two or three times a week. She clearly enjoys being in the water, the bubbles, being soaped up bathed and having her back massaged, wrapped and dried in a big towel. Stacy treats Siggy like a princess, and Siggy acts like one, particularly having the massage and when her nails are filed after the bath.
  • Siggy’s big treat after her bath is a little cup of hummus, which she enjoys in the extreme. She looks out the kitchen window after being towel dried and finishes her hummus. Never have I seen anyone enjoy hummus more.

  • Relaxing in the back yard in later afternoon. Travis pets Siggy, which relaxes her and leads to her dozing off.
  • Task: Retrieve an envelope that fell on the floor and bring it to Travis’s lap
  • Task- Turning the Light Switch on, Siggy is rewarded for each task. Although Travis' uses a laser, Siggy unders task by Travis specific words.
  • Travis and Siggy in the backyard, shaded by the canopy, Siggy is relaxed here, but still alert to any movement by a bug
